CHRISTMAS 2025 SERMON - Rev. Warren Simon
DATE: Thursday 25th December 2025 Christmas Sermon - Rev. Warren Simon
Taken from - Matthew 2:1-13
......vs 11 - And when they came in the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, frankincense and myrrh.
These wise men came from the far east as mentioned in the scriptures, it could of been places such as Japan, China etc.
The attitude of these men who have seen the star came and worship Jesus. We have to ask ourselves what our intentions are when we attend church, are we there for gossip or are there to worship Him.
No way in history did we read where people were born a King, Josiah was eight (8) years old when he was made King, however Jesus was born a King - Matthew 2:2 - Saying where is he that IS BORN KING OF THE JEWS? we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. These wise men were led by a star, it reminds us of the Israelites in Moses's time, God led the Israelites by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
In verse 11 - from the moment they reach they fell down, this signifies reverence, they gave him the best praise and Hallelujah; from the moment we reach we ought to worship.
- Prostrate
- Worship
This is the mindset we as believers must have. In the scripture no way indicates that they had conversation with anyone else. Some of us can tell what people wear and their business.
When the wise men came Christ wasn't a babe in a manager, he was about 2 years, that is why King Herod ordered that children from 2 years old and under be put to death (Matthew 2:16). Anytime we reach a level of worship the devil is threatened. If the church is not under persecution, then something is wrong; in ministry when you are reaching higher heights, you are a threat.
In verse 11 of Matthew chapter 2, the wise men presented gifts to Jesus, in 2 Corinthians 9:7 it reads.....God loves a cheerful giver.
They bought gold, frankincense and myrrh,
- GOLD - signifies Jesus' Kingship and royalty, it's a precious gift for a king, recognizing him as the KING OF KINGS
- FRANKINCENSE - A fragrant incense used in worship, symbolizing Jesus' divinity and PRIESTLY ROLE.
- MYRRH - An embalming oil, foretelling Jesus' humanity, suffering, death and burial, ACKNOWLEDGING JESUS AS THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE.
They bought gifts that would be of use for him,
When the church comes together for prayer there are revelations - vs 12 - being warned by God in a dream that they should not returned to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
We are not to harm little children, in Matthew 18:6 - But who so shall offend one of these little ones which believes in me, it would be better for him that a mill stone was hang about his neck and that he was drowned in the depth of the sea.
